My life was upside down and I was experiencing a mid-life crisis when society came to a grinding halt. I had started driving Uber to make ends meet while I attempted to resurrect my floundering tech career, but the demand for both enterprises completely disappeared in a matter of days. It took a few weeks, but with everybody trapped indoors, a steady demand grew for people to have food delivered to their homes. I suddenly had income again, but like many other people without a family of their own, I was isolated from society. With only music to keep me company, I started writing jokes in my head about the things I saw while out on the road and imagined myself performing those jokes in front of crowds. When things opened back up I felt an unexpected desperation not to return to the corporate world. I briefly contemplated getting a job as a line cook at a strip club before it dawned on me that I should try performing some of the jokes I’d written in front of live crowds. I found a series of comedy open mics in my area, gave myself the stage name Megajon and began my journey into the world of standup comedy.
